How to Remove Yourself From Telemarketing Lists

Telemarketing has been around for decades, and have become even more annoying.  While marketers feel that it is somewhat effective, most consumers despise it.  There is nothing quite like receiving a phone call during dinner, only to find a salesperson on the other end.  There are a few ways to permanently get your name off of telemarketing lists, and say goodbye to the electronic gnats invading your home.

First, you need to go to DoNotCall.gov and register for the National Do Not Call List.  Make sure that you list both your home phone and your cell phone, or you might continue to receive telemarketing calls.  You should also locate your state’s No Call list, as well.  Again, register both home and cell phone numbers to stop telemarketing calls.

There are even electronic devices available that can work with your phone line to stop telemarketing calls.  When a telemarketing call comes through, you press a button on the device and it plays a recorded message refusing the call and stating your desire to be removed from the telemarketing company’s database.  If you get a lot of calls for whatever reason, you may feel it’s worth investing in this device to save yourself having to talk to each marketer and ask to be taken off their list.

In addition, you can contact DMAConsumers.org to find out more about your rights and what you can do to stop telemarketing calls, particularly if a telemarketing company continues to call after you have requested to be taken off their list.

These steps will help ensure that you are able to put a stop to those sales calls at your home, and keep marketers from using your cell number for their own evil purposes.
