How to Transfer Music From a Computer on a Shared Network to Your iPod

Your iPod is probably a big part of your life, from being at work to sitting at home.  These little devices can be purchased at any apple store or electronics store.  They are more than convenient, and can offer endless hours of enjoyment.

If you have two separate sets of music on two separate computers that you want to combine and put onto one iPod, here’s how you do it via your home network connection, without manually copying all the songs from the first PC to the second PC.

Steps:

First, you must download or have the latest edition of iTunes 9.  In addition, you need to make sure that your computer and the second computer hosting the music are on is the same wireless network.

Next, you need to launch iTunes on both computers and enter the Advanced tab on the menu bar.  You need to click on ‘Turn On Home Sharing’ on both computers.

To transfer music to your iPod from the second computer, you must ensure that the primary computer user’s iTunes ID and password are entered in the sharing window and that sharing is enabled.  Now, open the Shared section on your computer and click on the user’s library.  Drag the music that you want to put on your iPod to the Music tab in iTunes and drop it in.

You now need to connect your iPod to your computer.  In iTunes, click File and then Sync iPod.  This will transfer the music that you recently added to your library to your iPod.

There are also transfer software programs available that will allow you to connect your iPod to the second computer and transfer music that way.  Never plug your iPod directly into someone else’s computer, as their computer will completely wipe your iPod and transfer that person’s music to your computer.
