The Best U.S. Cities for Winter Jobs and Employment

In a nation where the unemployment rate is staggering at best, finding work can be a job in itself.  In fact, for many states and cities, winter can be the worst time for employment.  Many construction jobs are put on hold until warmer weather, and people are simply not hiring outside of the retail industry.

So where are all of the jobs this winter?  According to studies, here are your best bets if you are looking to find winter work.

Leading the list of best places to get winter jobs: Baton Rouge, LA.  Employment is expected to rise a whopping 18 percent in Baton Rouge this winter, with Seattle, WA and Milwaukee, WI not lagging far behind with double digit increases predicted, as well.  For people living in or near these cities, the promise of more jobs is certainly one that has people feeling much more confident about the future.

Of course, not all cities are equally promising.  Many cities are expecting no change in employment, such as Houston, TX, Los Angeles, CA, and Boise, ID.  On the even lower end of the spectrum, Colorado Springs, CO and Columbia, SC are actually expecting to lose jobs this winter.

The job market is certainly nearing an all time low for many cities, but thankfully things are showing promise in some areas of the country.  The economic recovery is stressful for all workers, but with more cities promising growth and new jobs, at least employees can take comfort in the fact that hope is finally able to be seen on the horizon.
