Back to School Treats: How to Make Homemade Granola Bars

Us Moms have enough to think about without stressing out over whether the snacks we are feeding their children are healthy.  If you want a healthy recipe for a quick and easy snack for your children, why not try making your own healthy recipe granola bars?  Not only are granola bars a quick and easy snack to prepare, but kids love them, and they travel well, so they’re convenient for home, school and car trips.

You will need:

1 ½ cups of oats (regular, not quick cooking)

1 ½ cups each of sesame seeds, nuts, coconut, raisins, dark chocolate chips, crispy rice cereal

¼ cup each of brown sugar, wildflower honey, and tahini (concentrated.)

First, toast the oats and sesame seeds, either in the oven, or in a pot on the stove.  In another pot, mix the sugar, honey and tahini.  Cook your recipe ingredients on the stove for 1 minute at a low temperature.  Add the toasted oats and sesame seeds, and the rest of your ingredients to the pot.

Next, mix everything for this easy snack together well, and put the mixture into a non-stick pan.  Cover it with a sheet of baking paper, and press down firmly with the flat of your fingers, so that the mixture is packed tightly into the pan.  Refrigerate this healthy recipe granola bars for 10 minutes.

Cut it into bars or squares.  Refrigerate again for 30 minutes.  Separate the pieces and store them in the refrigerator or freezer in an airtight container.

Now you have a healthy recipe that your children are going to love, and that is something that all moms can get excited about!
