Dine in Style at the Famous Yamashiro Restaurant in Hollywood

In Japanese, the word Yamashiro means mountain palace, and when you look upon this famous eatery, you can easily see how the restaurant got its name.  Located near the Magic Castle Club and Hotel in Los Angeles, Yamashiro is modeled after a Japanese palace found near Kyoto.

Yamashiro overlooks Hollywood Boulevard from its high perch, and has been a landmark restaurant and crowd drawer since it was built in 1911.

The original intent of the Japanese restaurant was as a residence where the builders would be able to keep their collection of Asian art and antiquities.  The iconic building would later serve as the inspiration for the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood.  For many years, the building was used as a private club for the wealthy elite of Hollywood.  Today, Yamashiro is one of the most popular and famous restaurants in the area.

Yamashiro also has a great bar, as well as exquisite landscaping that is just as gorgeous as the building itself.  If you live in the Los Angeles area, or are just visiting, Yamashiro is a landmark destination in which to dine, or to use as a historic backdrop for photos.

Yamashiro offers as much in history and architecture as it does in great food.  The restaurant is located on 1999 North Sycamore Avenue and close to many other Hollywood attractions. Yamashiro has an extensive Japanese cuisine menu, and prepares each dish with delectable authenticity.  The restaurant lot also hosts a farmer’s market, and provides valet parking.
