Great and Simple Ideas for Green Themed Food on St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is a time to wear green and proclaim your Irish heritage, often even if you aren’t Irish! While green beer and the like are popular, you can add some of the festive mood to the other food that you and your family eat throughout the day. Here are a few fun ideas to add green to your food this year.

All it takes to begin is some green food coloring from the supermarket. You can start off by adding a drop or two of food coloring to the milk in the morning, and even into the eggs that you are making for breakfast. You can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Dr. Seuss in one shot! Citrus sodas with food coloring can work as a beverage for lunch.

Salad is an easy green food, but if you want to add some more pizazz to your meal, you can make pasta served with green Alfredo sauce. It only takes a few drops from your food coloring to do it. Another food that works well with the green coloring is mashed potatoes because they are white and show up the color better.

For dessert, you can add food coloring to whipped cream and serve it on top of some fruit. Another idea is to make some shamrock shaped sugar cookies and spread a thin layer of green frosting across their tops.

Whenever you are adding the green coloring to the food you serve your friends and family, make sure you tell them what you are doing. Otherwise, you are going to see quite a few worried faces staring at the green concoctions you’ve created!
