How Fruit Helps to Power Your Brain

Fueling your brain is a lot like putting gas in your car. If you’re going on a long road trip, you’ll need to fill up your gas tank. The same goes with your brain! If you have a big test in the morning, or if you have a long day ahead of you, you’ll need plenty of mental fuel.

Colorful and citrus fruit is not only pretty to look at; it’s great for your brain. A rainbow of fruit from cantaloupe, to watermelon, to apples, to cherries is wonderful brain fuel.

Berries are another type of fruit that is good for your brain. Blueberries are known to improve motor function, as well as your ability to learn. Strawberries are not only delicious, they are good little memory boosters. Raspberries and blackberries also contain antioxidants, which are great for your memory.

Many people don’t know that pomegranate is also good for your brain. It’s a tasty fruit and full of antioxidants. It isn’t available every month, so eating berries can often take the place of enjoying a pomegranate.

Lastly, even though a tomato isn’t traditionally thought of as a fruit, it is one and it is very good for you. This fruit is also full of antioxidants and contains lycopene, which prevents degenerative conditions of the brain such as dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Enjoy some fruit any time as a delicious and healthy snack.
