How to Can Fruits and Vegetables for Delicious Organic Treats

Are you looking for an affordable way to eat organic throughout the year, even after your fruit and vegetable plants have stopped producing for the season?  One easy way to accomplish this is to can fruits and vegetables during peak season.  When you can vegetables that you grow yourself, you can eat healthy and organic all year long.

When you are looking to can fruits and vegetables, you will want to wash them and cut into small pieces.  You will then boil them and add to sterile mason jars.  Screw on the tops and place them in a pressure cooker that contains water about halfway full.  Finish covering the jars with boiling water, bring the pot to a boil for about 70 minutes, then leave to cool.  You can also freeze fruits by packing them with water and vitamin C.

When you can fruits and vegetables, you will find that there are many benefits.  Not only does this method offer more nutrition than buying fruits and veggies canned in sugar syrup and packed with preservatives, but you will find that you can save a great deal of money over store prices.
