How to Deal With a Picky Eater in Your Family

Having a picky eater is, unfortunately, a common problem among parents.  Many children can go through picky phases in their eating.  Rather than being frustrated or getting angry, it’s best to know some of the more nutritious options for your child.  Here are some healthy, nutritious options that will give your child the nutrients needed, as well as the taste they want.

One of the best meal options for your picky child is simply the Italian food option – pasta with red sauce.  Add some Parmesan cheese to the dish and your child will love the taste.  You can also omit the red sauce and serve the food with just the cheese topping.  Opt for whole-wheat pasta if you can get away with it!

Another good food is baked sweet potatoes.  Your child will love this sweet food, and it’s healthier than fries.  Of course, baked butternut squash is another great food for your kids, and you can add a bit of butter and brown sugar to the food to make it more appetizing.

If you have a very picky eater, then consider healthy snack options like fruit kebabs.  You can skewer bits of pineapple, grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe and strawberries, and give your child super-healthy food that also tastes great (it’s also fun to eat).

Don’t forget the chicken nuggets that most picky eaters love – add a vegetable dipping sauce to this food to replace BBQ sauce or ranch and add more nutrition.

You can also help your child make their own flat pizza, using tortillas.  This food is simple, fun and can be very nutritious when you top it with fresh baked vegetables from the grocery store and Parmesan cheese.
