How to Get the Right Nutrients in Your Diet

Even if you think that you have a fairly well balanced food regimen, you could be missing some of the key nutrients that promote good health.  If you have started a new diet recently, there is an even better chance that you are missing out on important nutrients.

For starters, you should be sure that you are getting plenty of vitamin-D.  Most people receive their vitamin-D by drinking milk and orange juice.  It’s an important part of your diet because it helps maintain strong bones, promotes immunity, and keeps cancer cells from growing.

Next, be sure there is plenty of magnesium in your diet.  If you eat plenty of nuts, bran, oats, and fish in your diet, then you probably get all the magnesium you need.  If there is not enough in your diet, your hormones might be off balance, and there is a greater chance for developing diabetes.

Of course, calcium is no stranger to your diet, but are you sure you’re getting enough?  Calcium is essential to battle osteoporosis later in life, so be sure that there is plenty in your diet now.

Tofu, beans, and spinach provide plenty of iron.  If you aren’t getting enough iron in your diet, you might suffer anemia and hair loss.

Folic acid is something that most people never remember to include in their diet.  Folic acid is found in green vegetables, nuts, cereals, and bananas, and it reduces the risk of heart attack.  Folic acid can also prevent many birth defects.

If you’re not sure that you’re getting all of these in your daily diet, then you should seek out a multivitamin supplement.
