How to Make Simple Potstickers at Home

If you adore Chinese food, you’ll enjoy cooking it at home.  It’s not as hard as you might think!  Following the right potsticker recipe will allow you to make these delightful morsels right at home for a hearty meal.

You will need:

Start with two beaten eggs (with two tablespoons of water added).  You also need two finely chopped scallions, a cup and a half of peanut oil, a small carrot (peeled and minced), two and a half tablespoons of soy sauce and a pound of ground pork.  Additional ingredients include Chinese five-spice powder, a can of water chestnuts and 40 wonton skins.

Steps:

The first step in this recipe is to heat two tablespoons of oil in a wok over medium-high heat.  Add the pork and the garlic.  Stir-fry until the pork is cooked.  Now, add the green onion, the water chestnuts, the carrot, spices and your soy sauce.  Cook for an additional two minutes.

The next step is to pour the mixture into a colander lined with paper towels and let it cool.  Now, for each wonton skin, put it on a cutting board and place a spoonful of the mixture in the middle.  Brush the edges of the wonton with the egg mixture and pinch them closed (diagonally).  Make sure you don’t over-stuff each wonton, as the edges should be able to properly close.

Next, heat the remaining oil in a skillet and pan-fry the wontons.  The potsticker recipe also requires that you cook each wonton until it is golden brown and crispy.  Drain your wontons on a paper towel to remove excess oil and then serve.

For this dish, you can try adding fresh green beans as a side, or even edamame.
