How to Make Steak Dijon

If you’re bored of eating the same old steak at home or at the steakhouse, it’s time to take your taste buds for a spin and try Steak Dijon.  Steak Dijon is steak prepared with a creamy, spicy mustard-based sauce that adds a whole lot of kick to the flavor of the steak, and has to be tried to be believed.

To make Steak Dijon, you will need:

Thick cut steaks

1 tablespoon cream cheese

1 tablespoon mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Ground black pepper

Finely chopped fresh mushrooms

Finely chopped leeks

Steps:

Trim all visible fat from your steaks, then sear them in a frying pan on high heat, turning constantly.  Do not let the steaks stick to the pan, but keep them moving.  Once they are seared on all sides and no trace of pink color remains, cook them in the pan for 1-3 minutes on each side (depending on how rare you like them), then put them on a side-plate to rest.

In a separate pan, combine your cream cheese, mayonnaise, mustard and pepper.  Put on a medium-low heat and simmer lightly, stirring constantly to combine the ingredients.  Once the liquid has a consistent, creamy texture, add the finely chopped mushrooms and let them cook in the sauce.

Next, lightly fry some chopped leeks in a clean smaller saucepan.  When they turn transparent, add them to the sauce.

Once the sauce is hot through and mixed, drop your steaks into the sauce.  Simmer for five minutes until the steak has absorbed all of the delicious flavor, then serve immediately.
