How to Make Turkey Pot Pie With Thanksgiving Leftovers

If you are looking for ways to get rid of your leftover Thanksgiving turkey, then making turkey pot pie can be an excellent way to do just that.  This easy recipe gives you the means to not only rid your fridge of Thanksgiving turkey, but also to make a great tasting, hearty meal at the same time.

You’re going to need some supermarket supplies here.  You need half a cup of flour; six tablespoons of butter, divided; three sliced carrots; two sliced celery stalks, two cans of chicken broth; a beaten egg; one and a half cups of milk; one medium onion, chopped; three-quarters of a cup of peas; and a nine-inch pie crust.

First, melt the butter for your Thanksgiving turkey pot pie over medium-low heat.  Whisk in your flour and cook for one minute, while whisking constantly.  Remove the pan from the stove, add chicken broth and stir.  Add your milk and replace on stove.  Bring to a simmer under medium heat.  Remove from heat and break up any lumps.

Next, for Thanksgiving turkey pot pie, return mixture to heat once more and cook for another minute, whisking the entire time.  Add your Thanksgiving turkey meat now and cook for another minute. Remove from the heat, add a few drops of lemon juice, and set it to the side.

Now, preheat your oven to four hundred degrees.  In another pan, melt butter and sauté onion, carrots and celery for five minutes.  Add this to your turkey.  Add your peas now.  Pour the entire mixture into the pan.

Put the pie crust over the top and pinch to the edge of the pan.  Use beaten egg to coat the crust.  Bake for about thirty minutes.  Your leftover turkey pot pie should now be finished!
