Impress Your Date at an Italian Restaurant by Ordering These Top 5 Menu Items

When you are going out on a date, whether it is your first date or your twentieth, you always want to do a little something to impress the one you are with.  You might want to try that fancy new Italian restaurant.  When you visit the restaurant, experiment with some dishes that you might not have had before, as well as some classics.  Here are a few fancy dishes that you can order that might impress your date.

Start with some classic Italian appetizers.  Bruschetta is grilled bread rubbed with garlic and olive oil, and covered with tomato, basil and other herbs.  Another option that you might want to try from the appetizer menu is calamari, which is fried squid often served with marinara sauce for dipping.

Moving on to the main course, you may want to steer clear of the old Italian restaurant standbys.  No spaghetti bolognaise or meatball sub for you – you’ll look like you’re playing it safe.  One dish that you and your date must try if available is the lobster ravioli.  It is a new spin on an old favorite – lobster stuffed pasta.  Another option that you both might enjoy is penne arrabiata, which is Italian sausage and marinara sauce over penne pasta.

Ordering a nice bottle of wine to go along with the meal is also a great way to impress a date.  Ask the host for the best wine match for the meal, or just ask for a bottle of the house red.  One thing that you don’t want to do when you order at an Italian restaurant is order in a fake Italian accent, because you are not going to impress your date (or the waiter) that way!
