Roasted Yams Are a Great Alternative for Your Thanksgiving Dinner

If you are looking for some great Thanksgiving Day recipes to add to your regular menu, then roasted yams might be just the right choice.  These are a great alternative to candied yams, and they still offer a sweet treat.  This easy recipe can help you make your Thanksgiving menu as delicious as possible.

To start this Thanksgiving recipe, you will need to have ten to twelve yams, sweet butter and brown sugar.  Preheat your oven to four hundred and fifty degrees.  You will first need to scrub your yams and get all the dirt off them.  Now, pierce them with a fork to vent them and place your yams in the oven for about an hour.  Check their doneness with a fork – if it pierces the yams easily, they’re ready.  Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool.

You will also need a deep baking dish for this Thanksgiving recipe.  Slice your yams long-wise into strips, but leave the skin intact.  Arrange the yams flat in the baking pan.  Dot the yams with butter, and then sprinkle brown sugar over them.  Reduce your oven temperature to three hundred and seventy-five degrees.  Place your yams in the oven for about thirty to forty-five minutes, or until they are nicely roasted.  Remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.  Serve warm.

You have now made roasted yams for your Thanksgiving Day guests – they’ll be delighted with the subtle difference between this dish and candied yams.  It’s very simple to add some sweet treats to your Thanksgiving menu.
