The Best Recipe for Beef and Vegetable Stew

When the cold winter months arrive and you’re looking for that perfect comfort food to feed your loved ones, there are few things more delicious than a hearty beef and vegetable stew.  Hot, delicious, nutritious, and filling, your family will certainly enjoy this tasty dish.  Today, we offer a great recipe for the world’s best beef and vegetable stew.

 

For this beef stew, you will need:

Vegetable oil
1.5 lbs stew beef
1 large chopped onion
3 stalks chopped celery
1 clove chopped garlic
1 chopped green pepper
2 tbsp parsley
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
4 peeled and chopped potatoes
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
3 peeled chopped carrots
4 cups water
½ cup flour

 

To make this delicious stew, start by browning your beef in the oil.  When it is done, remove it from the pan and add the onion, celery, and green pepper and sauté until they are tender, or for about eight minutes.  Then return your beef to the pan and add your water, spices, and tomato sauce. 

 

For added flavor, you can also include bouillon cubes in the stew.  Add in the carrots and potatoes and simmer until they are tender, which should take about an hour.  After this, skim off the fat.  In a separate container, mix flour and cold water together to make a paste and add the flour-water mix into the pan to add thickness.  Stir, and serve with thick crusty bread or in a bread bowl.
