Warming Winter Wines to Pair with Hot Meals

Are you looking for a great wine to pair with your favorite winter recipes?  Finding the right vintage is not as difficult as you might imagine.  Here you will find our top recommendations that pair well with most winter foods and hot meals.  Here are some traditional favorites:

One of the best winter wine choices is Alamos 2002 Pinot Noir.  This vintage hails from Argentina, which is actually the fifth ranked wine producer, globally.  This wine offers a smooth, velvety texture, and quite a bit of sweetness to the wine.

Another excellent wine for winter is Bonny Doon 2003 Ca del Solo Sangiovese.  You will find a lot of fruit flavors here, with moderate acidity.  The wine pairs very well with hearty winter meals, such as stew or chowder.  It comes from the Central Coast area of California and is not expensive.

If you like heavy fruit concentration, then you might be interested in checking out Campo Viejo 1999 Reserva Roja.  With a glossy texture and just the barest hint of vanilla, this is an excellent wine to pair with hearty winter food, especially those with some spice to them.

Tiefenbrunner 2003 Pinot Grigio is another excellent wine for the winter months.  This wine pairs extremely well with risotto, and offers a delightful mild pear flavor.

As you can see, there are quite a few options open to you if you are looking for a great winter wine to pair with your family meal. Any of these wines will get compliments at your table this winter.
