What Side Dish Goes Best With Pork?

When you are serving a delicious pork dish as an entrée for your family, you want the perfect side dish to complement the flavor.  Pork is a naturally flavorful meat, especially when bought fresh from the butcher rather than the pre-packed/ frozen variety.  If you use seasonings or make a marinated chop or pork tenderloin, you will find that you have a wealth of flavor that goes well with most side dishes.  Here are a few great side dish options to accompany your pork.

One great option is to serve some herb seasoned vegetables from your local Farmer’s Market or produce section.  Corn on the cob with a hint of butter and garlic is a great choice that goes nicely with pork.  Garlic and onion sautéed into a dish of Brussels sprouts is also a great side dish for pork, especially if you add a few herbs to the mixture.

Another great ingredient in side dishes when serving pork as an entrée is cheese.  You will find that a lovely homemade mac and cheese can turn your pork chops into a comfort meal fit for a king (or queen).  Potatoes au gratin also make a cheesy and delicious addition to any meal where pork is going to be served.

Choosing a side dish to accompany pork isn’t nearly as hard as it is with other foods.  Pork is naturally flavorful and can be cooked in a variety of ways, making it equally suitable for sautéed veggies, baked beans, or cheesy dishes.  Of course, adding a veggie and a starch offers a more balanced meal while increasing the odds of tantalizing the palates of everyone at your dinner table.
