When winter rolls around, it can seem like many of the opportunities for free family activities seem to dissipate.  No more days in the park, free concerts at local outdoor venues, or hikes on your favorite nature trails.  The truth of the matter is that there are plenty of family activities that are great for families on a budget, even in winter.  Here are some of the most popular options.

Some of the best winter family activities cost little to no money at all.  If you live in an area where there is plenty of snow, you might be surprised how much fun sledding or building a snowman can be for the entire family.  While you might think this is a kids activity, you will be surprised at how quickly getting into it can leave you feeling like a kid again yourself.

If you live in areas where snow isn’t that common, bundling up a little bit will leave you free to enjoy your favorite hiking trails even in cold weather.  The leaves may have fallen, but winter brings about new animals and birds to watch and can actually offer a completely different experience, making this another of the great winter family activities.
