Fun Mother’s Day Games to Play to Bond With Your Mother

Mother’s Day is a wonderful excuse to spend quality time as a family and shower your mother with thoughtful gifts and sentimental cards. Family time can be spent enjoying a delicious dinner or playing a fun game together with your family.  Games are great to play because they bring everybody together, and you can learn a little something about each other through the silly situations that some games can put you in.

The best bit is that you don’t need to spend any money at the toy store – all these games are free!

One great game idea is played in pairs, with both mother and child.  It’s ideal for a get together with several moms and their children, but it can be fun with just two pairs, as well.  To start, mothers will answer a series of funny questions about themselves.  The game consists of the child trying to answer the questions correctly and the pair with the most correct answers wins.  It’s a true test of how well each child knows their mother, and will help the mother feel loved and important when her child gets 10/10!

Another fun game to include in Mother’s Day festivities is a game of improvisation.  It’s fun for groups and involves acting out scenes from movies or television shows.  In the middle of the scene, one group member will call out “freeze.”  At this point, that person will select another member of the group to act out the rest of the scene as a “typical mother” would.  The goal is to portray as many qualities of maternal stereotypes as possible, making it a fun game for everyone that should hopefully involve lots of laughter.

Another fun game that requires a little more preparation is to have a family treasure hunt, with unique personalized clues. Using a block of colorful sticky notes, write out a series of clues with answers that only your mother will know.  For instance, “This one can be found in the place where I lost my first tooth.'” Or, “Tommy got stuck in here looking for that pack of cookies you hid!” Each clue will lead you to the place where you find the next clue. Put a big prize at the end that your mother will love, such as a home-baked cake or a photo album of pictures of you and your mom together.

Playing games on Mother’s Day is a wonderful way to make it an enjoyable holiday where your mom will enjoy what she loves most – quality time with her kids!
