Great Handmade Gifts to Make For Grandparents

Are you looking for something a bit different from watching your regular TV shows or movies?  A family night of making crafts can be an enjoyable way to pass the time, get closer to your kids and make some great crafts for the ever-doting grandparents.  Head down to your local arts and crafts store now to stock up supplies, then let’s begin.

Homemade Soda Bread Mix

If Saint Patrick’s Day is coming up, you might choose to give jars of Irish soda bread mix as a gift.  Making these jars can be fun and kids love this tasty tangy bread when baked by the recipient.

To start, simply add two and a half cups of all-purpose flour, a half-cup of whole-wheat flour, a cup of currants, a cup of light brown sugar, a tablespoon of baking powder and a teaspoon of baking soda to a mixing bowl.  Combine them all, and then store them in a jar.  Grandparents love anything you can bake, and will enjoy the fact that this baking mix was made by the little ones.

Family Scrapbooks

Making scrapbooks with family photos is another great option for a night of family fun. Have each of your children fill out a page in the book, detailing their favorite memories of their grandparents.  You and your spouse can get in on the act, too.  Add some hand drawn pictures to the gift and wrap them with a decorative bow.

Hand Decorated Picture Frames

Finally, hand decorated picture frames can also be a great craft for the entire family.  Wooden frames can be bought and painted from a department store, with plenty of stickers and glued whimsical items.  Add a family photo and have the kids give these crafts as gifts to their grandparents to show your love and appreciation.
