How Taylor Swift Took Her Music to the Top of the Charts

Taylor Swift plays a genre of music sometimes referred to as Country Pop. Her image is generally without controversy, and her only confrontational moment was with Kanye West at the MTV Music Awards. She had been presented an award for her music, Kanye seized the mike and protested that a different artist should have won. In line with her kind image, she publicly forgave him for the incident.

Taylor Swift has won several awards for her music and has had some of the best-selling albums and singles of the past decade. She is an instrumentalist as well as a singer, and plays guitar and ukulele instead of just being accompanied by her music. In live performances, however, she frequently restricts herself to singing and leaves the music to her backup performers. She is also noted for her philanthropy, which has given her a more mature, responsible image than many other pop stars her age.

Her music tends to be radio-friendly and her thematic material appropriate for younger children. Her lyrics tend to center on typical themes of love and loss, forgiveness and empowerment while her music stays within the conventions of pop, making it extremely popular with teenagers and young adults. Her friendly, down-to-earth image has also made her very popular, contributing to the success of her music and, to some extent, what seems to be a budding career in acting.
