How to Save Money on Your Family Vacation in the U.S.

Everyone tries to save money, and that is still the case when planning a family vacation.  This year, instead of spending a ton of money to travel to an expensive and overpriced beach resort, consider one of the following inexpensive family getaways.

Cowboys and Indians

The Black Hills in South Dakota might sound dull, but it’s a great place where you can have plenty of family fun.  If your kids are interested in playing cowboys and Indians, this Old West area is full of exciting history.  Travel to the national forest, as well as Mount Rushmore.  With so many mountains and hills, grab your bike and the kids’ bikes, and hit the road!

Old fashioned Beach-Side Fun

Our next travel destination is on the other side of the lower 48.  Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is family-friendly and won’t break your bank.  Myrtle Beach features I-Max movie theaters, amusement parks by the shore and several museums.  Without partaking in any of that, you can take the kids down to the beach for some old fashioned fun in the sun.

Take a Hike at Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park is another great place for your family to travel to.  If your kids love being outside, this is the place to go for sun-soaked travels.  There are hot springs, geysers, hiking trails and plenty of beautiful views to keep the kids occupied.  You simply cannot go wrong with Yellowstone.

Explore Local Museums

The last travel spot on the list is Charleston, South Carolina.  There are so many things to do in Charleston, from children’s museums, to plantations, to sandy beaches.  If you’re already living on the east coast, it will take you hardly any time to get to Charleston.
