How to Throw the Best 4th of July Party Ever!

Independence Day should be a reverential time to reflect upon the sacrifices our forefathers made to gain the freedom we take for granted.  Is the best way to commemorate this extraordinary feat to bow our heads in silence, make sacrifices of our own, or commit ourselves to a more virtuous and selfless life?  No!  It’s the perfect time to throw a killer party that will go down in history as the most epic celebration of your life.

Throwing the best 4th of July party is not an easy task.  It requires a lot of planning, and probably a lot of cash.  However, the benefits could be a legendary status for you and your friends and of course some great memories.

Here is how you can throw the best Independence party ever!

Step 1 – Securing ‘The Spot’.

You must have a great venue in order to have a memorable party.  The 4th of July is right in the middle of summer, so having water around is a must.  Plus it’s an excuse for people to get into their bathing suits.  At the very least, get a house with a pool.  If you can, get a yacht.  Large boats will work as well.  It may be expensive or difficult to secure, but you can get away with a lot more things on the open ocean than you can on land.

If you are in a landlocked city, then go for a large space that has an outdoor pool.  A private beach would be the second best place but like the boat, it may be a little more difficult to get permission for.  Avoid public places like community swimming pools or state beaches. These venues close early and have tight restrictions on drinking alcohol.

Step 2 – Prepare the Food

Make sure to offer a plethora of traditional Independence Day food.  Anything high in saturated fats and salt is always a good choice.  Bratwursts, hot dogs, burgers, tacos, a variety of potato chips with dip, are all necessities.  If you can, get some nice steaks.

For 4th of July parties, you want to have a grill or barbecue.  Invite someone to attend as the sole purpose of being a dedicated chef – you can pay them in food and alcohol.

Step 3 – Drinks

It’s impossible to have a good party without alcohol (maybe I’m just dysfunctional).  But then again, I think it’s hard to be a good writer without alcohol.  Anyway, get a good supply of beverages, including both alcoholic and regular.  Beer, vodka, tequila, rum and whiskey are great choices.  If you can get your hands on a keg, by all means splurge.  You should go patriotic and choose American brands like Budweiser.

For the non-drinkers, get: still and sparkling water, a selection of bottled sodas, orange juice, cranberry juice, ginger beer and anything else that’s on sale in bulk at the Qwik-E-Mart.

Step 4 – Music

Music is a must.  Call in some favors and book a local band or a disc jockey.  Make sure to play all types of music, don’t blast just heavy metal or R&B all night unless you want people to start to leave.  Pop music is a good choice as everyone knows the chart hits.  For an older crowd, try a mix of classic rock.  Since it is Independence Day, it is acceptable to play one or two country hits as well and it will certainly get everyone up and dancing.

Step 5 – Girls

There is no such thing as a party without girls.  The only sausage fest you want should be on the grill.  Try to have as many girls as there are guys.  For a successful party, never go below a 2:1 guy to girl ratio.  This rule applies whether the host is male or female.

Step 6 – Advertise

To have the best 4th of July party, you must market yourself.  Create an event page on the latest social media pages, and invite all of your friends.  Spread the word by advertising free alcohol and whatever band or DJ you have secured.

If you follow all of these steps you are sure to have the best Independence Day Party ever, that you hopefully will not remember on the 5th of July.
