Let Your Kids Make Thanksgiving Place Cards

Place cards are an important part of your Thanksgiving table decorations.  However, you can get the decoration that you want and your kids can have fun at the same time with this arts and crafts project.  Making Thanksgiving place cards can be great ways for kids to have fun and feel like they’re really helping you prepare for the big day.

First, you will need to determine how large you want your Thanksgiving place cards to be.  Cut down pieces of white poster board for this  and fold them in half lengthwise, so that the card is longer than it is tall.  Now, let your little ones go to work making their Thanksgiving crafts. You can get all the supplies you need from a craft store or art shop, or even your local thrift store.

For cute, homemade Thanksgiving place cards, have your little ones trace their hands on the paper, from one side of the wrist, around each splayed finger, the thumb and the other side of the wrist.  This will become a turkey.  Write the name of each guest in the center of the “turkey” in black marker.  Now, let your kids decorate those turkeys with crayons, markers or paints.  They can even add construction paper to the “feathers” for a more realistic look.

When the kids are done with their Thanksgiving crafts, you might need to secure the bottom of the cards with a bit of tape to keep them from falling flat.  You can solve this problem in the beginning by folding a larger single piece of paper into thirds and making a triangle out it.  Your kids will enjoy this Thanksgiving craft and your guests will love the decorations.
