Review: The Hotel del Coronado in San Diego

If you are looking for a remarkable destination in San Diego, look no farther than the historic Hotel del Coronado.  This incredible hotel was built in 1888 and is considered one of the most beautiful resorts in the entire nation.

The history of the Hotel del Coronado is nothing short of remarkable, and helps to make a stay at this Victorian resort even more desirable.

When the Hotel del Coronado was first built, it was hoped that it would be the talk of the western world.  Ten different presidents have stayed at the resort, and many continue to visit the destination.  Everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Charles Lindbergh spent at least one night at the Hotel del Coronado, and L. Frank Baum, creator of the Wizard of Oz, helped design the incredible chandeliers on the property.

Indeed, the Hotel del Coronado offers a wide range of historical significance.  It was even the set for the film "Some Like it Hot," starring Monroe, as well as Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.  There are also rumors that one of the rooms is still haunted by the ghost of Kate Morgan, who was staying at the hotel when she committed suicide.

With an incredible history, deep celebrity and political ties, and even a famous ghost, there are many reasons why the Hotel del Coronado continues to draw visitors.
