Did you know that Father’s Day was officially signed into law by President Nixon in 1972 as a holiday to be celebrated on the third Sunday of June each year? Wallet Photo Card

Creating a wallet photo card is a quick and easy gift to create. Simply take a piece of card stock from an arts and crafts store, and trace the shape of a credit card. Cut out the shape. Now, let the child locate four or five photos of him or herself and have them cut themselves out of the picture. Next, let the child glue the various photos onto the card stock paper. Feel free to position the pictures in any fashion similar to a collage. Lastly, allow the child to write a short happy Father’s Day message on the back, then laminate the front and back. This quick and easy craft is now complete and Dad can carry it along with him in his wallet.

Homemade Gold Trophy

Take two small foam coffee cups and position them on top of each other with one upside down and the other on top. Glue the cups together where they meet. Apply masking tape around both cups and paint with gold paint, then set aside to dry. Now take a small five-inch box, which will be the base of the trophy and spray it with old paint, then set aside to dry. Once dry, glue the trophy to the base. Glue two gold pipe cleaners to teach side to form two handles. Write the trophy’s message on a piece of black construction paper and glue to the front of the five-inch box. Aim for something along the times of (but more original than) the message, “Worlds Greatest Dad”. Your gold trophy is now complete.

Personalized Magnets

Find a few clear flat marbles. Have the child trace the marble on white paper and cut out the shape. Have the child customize the small shape. Some ideas can be a Happy Father’s Day message, their name, or whatever they wish. Be sure to use crayon only. Now apply a light layer of white glue to the flat side of the marble and press onto front of drawing and let dry. You can now see the drawing straight through the marble. Lastly, apply white craft glue to the back of the drawing and press a small magnet onto it. These are great for Dad’s office file cabinet, the refrigerator or his toolbox.
