5 Easy Ways to Remove Allergens From Your Bedroom

If you have allergies, whether they are seasonal or you suffer throughout the year, you want to have at least one place in your home that is free of allergens so you can rest.  The bedroom makes the perfect place to concentrate on making an allergen-free zone, since you are going to spend so much of your time sleeping there.  The following tips can help you remove the allergens from your bedroom so that you can get some much-needed sleep.

The first thing you should do to keep allergens out of the bedroom is to make sure that you don’t bring them in unwittingly.  Since allergens such as pollen and cigarette smoke can cling to clothing, make sure that you leave your outerwear, such as jackets, out of the bedroom.

You should also not let your pets in the bedroom, and most importantly, on any furniture.  They have dander than can cause your allergies to act up.

Second, make sure that you don’t have any in-house pests by removing the carpets and adding hardwood flooring.  Animal dander and allergens can collect in carpets over the years to a point where your carpet may double in weight!

Keep your bed linens washed regularly.  Eliminate ‘fluffy’ items, such as extra blankets, at the foot of the bed or stuffed animals that can collect allergens.  Take larger unwashable items such as sealed qulits or silk comforters to the dry cleaner regularly.

Clean the bedroom at least once a week, and make sure that you dust everything with an electrostatic cloth that causes the dust to adhere to it.

You should also choose allergen free linen.  You will be able to find linens, pillowcases, pillows, and even mattresses that are allergen-free.

Make sure that you have proper ventilation in the room.  You can add a dehumidifier to the bedroom if you need it, and visit an electronics store and invest in an air purifiers.
