Anyone Can Learn How to Lay Ceramic Tile Quickly and Easily

Ceramic flooring can be quite striking, and it is no wonder that you want to add it to your home. If you want to lay tile on your own, you’ll be happy to know that it is quite easy. However, you will have to follow these tips to make sure that you have a good experience and that you are able to lay tile quickly.

One of the most important things to consider when you lay tile that has a pattern to it is how that pattern is going to work when it is on the floor. You might want to number the back of the tiles and have a schematic to work from. This will ensure that you do not inadvertently place the tiles in the wrong area, thus ruining the floor.

Before you start to lay tile, you need to make sure that you have a level foundation for your tiles. You can use ceramic tile backboards on plywood for the subfloor. Once your subfloor is prepared and you have the tiles in order, you will be able to begin to lay tile on the floor.

Use a chalk line to make sure that you lay tile in a straight line, and use spacers to ensure that there are even spaces between the tiles. Lay the first line without affixing them to the subfloor so you can be sure they are in a straight line. Finally, you can stick them down with the correct tile adhesive or mortar, depending on the weight and size of the tiles you’re using.
