Five Inexpensive Ways to Brighten up Your Bathroom

The bathroom in your home should be a relaxing and inviting space. If you do not have a lot of money to spend, there are still ways you can improve your bathroom. Brighten it up with these ideas.

Purchase new towels
Towels are a relatively inexpensive way to give a bathroom a fresh new look. Choose bright and cheery colors for your new towels and then roll them up spa style. Place them in an inexpensive wicker basket on the floor next to the tub, which you can find at any hardware or home furnishings store. Add a small basket of washcloths next to the sink as well.

Place candles in your bathroom
Scented candles can go a long way toward improving the look and the smell of your bathroom. Choose a candle with your favorite scent or select a scent based on the season of the year, such as spiced candles at Christmas. You can also get a scent diffuser which is basically a small heater plugged into the wall socket which gently heats essential oils, releasing a subtle scent.

Install a new shower curtain
A shower curtain can cost less than twenty-five dollars from a home improvement store but it can instantly transform your bathroom from dull and drab to interesting and lively. If you have a few extra dollars, consider purchasing new shower curtain rings to complement your new shower curtain.

Bathroom Rugs
Bathroom rugs can also help to make your bath look much better and feel more luxurious. Choose a plush new rug for in front of the tub as well as one for in front of the sink. If your current rug is tatty or dirty, it won’t make your family or guests feel good about stepping on it when they’re fresh out of the shower!

Brighten the windows with new curtains
Choose something light and airy or something with a bit more texture, based on the look you want to achieve. Either way, curtains can quickly and inexpensively give your bathroom a fresh new look.

Add plants to bring nature into your bathroom

Even the smallest piece of greenery can really lift a room, giving it a fresh and modern feel. However, unless you have a window in your bathroom, then stick to artificial plants.  Real plants need real sunlight to grow, and if your bathroom has no windows, then no matter how much you water them they will quickly die. Artificial plants are becoming ever more realistic, and you can enjoy them all year round.
