Handmade Christmas Gifts: How To Make a Rosary

Are you looking for great traditional Christmas gifts that you can offer to your loved ones this holiday season?  Here are some tips on how you can make a homemade Christmas rosary.  Rosaries are excellent Christmas gifts, as they not only remind us of the reason for the season, but they can be used daily for years to come.

To get started with this Christmas rosary, you will need a small metal or wooden cross, 55 beads, and a piece of twine that will fit through the beads. 

Start by making a rosary knot.  To do this, you will hold the rope in your left hand with about six inches hanging over.  Then, using the other end, you will wrap it around your index finger and the rope in your left hand three times. Pull your entire rope through these three loops and pull it tight. 

Now add ten beads to the rope and make another knot just like the one above.  Do this four more times and make a knot after the 50th bead. 

Now, take the piece of twine left after that last knot and the beginning piece of rope (six inches) and wrap them around your finger twice, then thread the ends of both through the loop and pull tight.  Trim off the end of the shorter piece. 

Now simply add a bead to the remaining piece, then tie a knot.  Add three beads and tie a knot, then add one more and tie a knot.  Tie the cross onto the end of the rope and pull tight, then cut off any remaining twine. 

When you are done, you have created a wonderful Christmas rosary that will make a beautiful Christmas gift.
