Household Products That Make Pet Stains Go Away

Everyone knows that you need a good product for fighting pet stains. More to the point, if you have a pet of any kind it’s important to have the correct product/s on hand in case of an emergency, otherwise you might end up having to replace your carpets or hire a professional carpet cleaner, and that can be expensive.  So here’s what you need to know about pet odor products when your furry little friend has an ‘accident’….

Have the right products ready

Let’s face it, paper towels just aren’t enough. In addition to your pet cleaning products, make sure that you have a good stash of three or four “pet-only’ rags. This way you can clean up the heavier messes without having to use your nice towels. Also, make sure you have a backup stash of pet stain products and pet odor removal products, you might actually need it all in case you pet pup gets sick.

Select products that also disinfect

Cleaning and stain removal isn’t enough when it comes to pet stains. You also need products which disinfect and gets out the bacteria which cause nasty odors. Otherwise, you might get the stain out and still end up with a house that smells like a barnyard. Yuck!

Don’t rub products in, blot them out

Scrubbing, even with pet removal products, does more to spread a stain and get it deep into your carpet fibers than it does to remove it. It’s better to apply your pet stain remover first, then apply light pressure with a blotting towel or rag. This will allow the solution to soak into the carpet instead of just spreading the mess.

Apply the products more than once

Even after the solution has been applied and dried out, it’s a good idea to use the products to make a second application a few hours later…or the next day. This will ensure that any leftover residue will be blotted out and reduce the chances of staining and odor.
