How Double Glazing Affects Heating Costs

When you are looking to save money on your winter heating costs, there is certainly a good argument for installing windows with double glazing.  Many people are quick to tell you that these windows are a great way to lower heating costs, but is it really true or is this just a marketing ploy?

In this case, it is true.  Double glazing creates a vacuum between the two panes of glass.  Where this vacuum exists, heat does not transfer through.  This provides excellent insulation in regards to temperature.

Another benefit of double glazing is that it also provides acoustic insulation, essentially soundproofing your house.  In order to receive comparable thermal insulation from a single glaze window, you would have to have it tinted so darkly that it was barely transparent at all.

Double glazing really is a great way to save on your home heating costs.  It can help you reduce the amount of energy you consume, while working to offer sound reduction without taking away visibility.
