How to Create Unique Seasonal Wall Art

When you want to find new ways to decorate for the season without spending a fortune, you might want to consider a fun craft project – creating wall art, or murals.  By creating your own wall art, you can personalize your space and make a truly unique statement about the season.  Kids love these ‘wall paintings’ and will love you forever if you let them join in!

One great option for creative wall art is to make shadow boxes using objects from nature.  If you want to capture the feeling of fall in a shadow box, you could use fall leaves or flowers arranged in a simple way.  For summer, you might use seashells or sand in a shadow box, with a picture postcard of the beach as a way to bring the season indoors.  The holiday season might feature a shadow box with some of your favorite Thanksgiving or Christmas ornaments.  A shadow box gives you an inexpensive way to capture the season without spending a fortune on wall art.

You could also put your amateur photography skills to work for you.  For fall, you could take photos of fall leaves and branches.  By having the photos blown up, you’ve created inexpensive wall art that truly shows off the season.  You don’t have to be a professional to capture great images of nature to give your wall a seasonal look.  You can also create collages of your favorite pictures each season and make a family photo album on the wall. For the holiday season, photos of a snowy mountain or even a close-up of last year’s Christmas tree would make wonderful wall art.

Animals wall art is always a big hit with the kiddies.  Have them, help you paint a landscape containing lambs in spring, cows and horses in summer, Turkeys and pumpkins in autumn and snowmen in winter.  Be sure to choose a wall which is big enough for you to all paint on at once, and each season simply take a photo of the artwork, then paint over with with white paint and a roller to give you a fresh canvas for the next season’s adventure!  Create a photo album of these pictures as the years go by and you’ll have a wonderful memento of your children’s developing artwork skills throughout the years.

Decorating for the season with wall art doesn’t have to be expensive.  With a little imagination, you can create seasonal pieces of artwork that will capture the essence of the season.
