How to Find the Best Compost Bin

Composting is a great way to give your soil the largest amount of nutrients and vitamins possible.  However, since compost piles usually require a pile of decomposing food, leaves, and other materials, you have to find a suitable place where it won’t attract pests or create unpleasant odors near your house.

There are many different kinds of pre-made composting bins available at home improvement shops and gardening stores, which is an easier option if you don’t have a green thumb.  One type of compost bin is an enclosed bin.  This is great for people with very little space, but it will also require constant aerating since the materials will be closed off from the environment.  Another benefit is that it will easily deter pests.

Another kind of bin to consider is a rolling bin, which makes transporting the compost easier.  Many of these bins are already aerated to speed the decomposition process.

Compost tumblers are another great option for a compost bin.  The contents can easily be moved around in the tumbler, allowing quick and efficient decomposition. This is one of the newest inventions on the market, and on top of the other added benefits, it keeps animals out and deters other pests.

Another option is a worm bin, which can also be used to store decomposing food and materials.  This is a great way to turn your scraps into rich, nutrient-dense soil.  These bins will need to be stored above freezing temperatures and below 85 degrees, so they may have to be moved inside if the outside temperatures are excessively hot or cold.
