Improve Your Health by Using Natural Shampoo

It seems like every drugstore product we use today is filled with harsh chemicals that are unhealthy for you, your family, and the environment. From soaps to laundry detergent to household cleaners, everything seems to be filled with chemicals with long, unpronounceable names. Even the shampoo that you use most likely has plenty of chemicals that are harsh and can even damage your hair when used long-term.

The Environmental Working Group recently reviewed 413 shampoos, and discovered that 11 percent of these included a known possible carcinogen, 17 percent contained chemicals that are under investigation for being linked to breast cancer, and 81 percent used chemicals that are thought to help carcinogens penetrate the scalp. The preservatives in almost all the non-natural shampoos are also thought to present a health risk.

Instead of using shampoo that contains harsh chemicals, a better option is to use natural or organic shampoo. This shampoo contain natural ingredients that are safe and helpful. An added bonus to non-toxic shampoo is that it is much safer for the environment, too. When you look at a standard shampoo bottle, think about all those chemicals that are being washed down the drain and back into the earth! Some of those chemicals could even get in your drinking water. Non-toxic products do not carry that same danger since they are all natural.

If you would like to avoid these health risks and go ‘all natural’, some of the best natural shampoos to use include Terressentials Fragrance Free Shampoo, Burts Bees Herbal Shampoo, and Jason Natural Shampoo. You can find these at many good beauty supply stores, and it’s also worth trying your local supermarket.

One thing to be aware of however is that most natural shampoos have no lather, since the lather is caused by the unhealthy chemicals that have been taken out. They also require more rinsing as a result. However, the health benefits of natural shampoo enthusiasts are considered to be a great trade-off for a few more minutes spent in the shower.

Consider using non-toxic shampoo and you will feel much more comfortable for yourself, your family, and the environment.
