Installing Vinyl Floors With Ease

Vinyl flooring can be very attractive and makes a great and easy to clean addition to any room.  With these easy tips, putting in your new floor will be a breeze.

To get started, remove old trim, molding, and flooring and use a level to ensure that your subfloor is smooth and even.  Vacuum well and wipe down surfaces to remove all debris and dust. Use patching compound if needed to remove any low spots.

After ensuring that your subfloor is perfectly clean and dry, it’s time to cut the major excess off of your vinyl flooring.  Lay the floors out in the room and mark the perimeter where they need to be cut.  Use masking tape on each side to reinforce and cut with a utility knife.

Once the floors have been trimmed, lay the vinyl in its final position.  Make small half circles in the excess at the corners until the vinyl lays flat.  Apply double sided tape to craft paper applied to the floor, then lay the new flooring down and cut it into the exact size needed.

When it is perfectly cut to the wall, spread your adhesive along the walls about six inches out.  Attach the flooring, using a hand roller to smooth and flatten, and allow to dry for up to four hours.

When this is done, simply replace any trim or molding, clean the floors, and put your furniture back into the room, all while patting yourself on the back for a flooring job well done.
