Review: the Clapper Worthwhile Product or Nostalgic Throwback?

If you grew up watching a lot of television in the late eighties and early nineties, you will have definitely heard of the Clapper.  In fact, if you are like many, you may have even spent a better part of that time period walking around with their theme song stuck in your head:  “Clap on, Clap Off, the Clapper!”

There was no doubt that the product was unique and the jingle catchy, but is the Clapper really a worthwhile product?

On the surface, the Clapper is a fairly simple device.  You plug it into the wall and attach your lamp, then when you clap your hands, you can turn your lamp on or off.   It’s a great device for those without a light switch at the door and is a lifesaver for people with disabilities.  You can get it online through the company’s website, or shop for it at many department stores.  Does the product live up to its reputation though, or is The Clapper destined for the dustbin after a few uses like so many other television products?

The Clapper has been around for almost two decades, which says something about the product.  While some complain that it is too sensitive and many people have learned the hard way that it needs to be plugged into a grounded outlet, there is no denying that for some people, it is a true convenience.

If you cannot turn your lights on and off with ease, The Clapper really can make a true difference for you.  It isn’t for everyone, but for enough people it’s worth the buy.
