Suggestions for Warding Off the Flu by Using Soap

You’ve been using soap to wash your hands since you were a child. Did you know that using soap could help you fight the flu?

Your hands are one of the places where germs are most likely to enter your body. You use them for everything! You pick up things, you shut doors, and you turn off lights. Keeping your hands clean with soap is incredibly important.

Of course you wash your hands with soap after using the bathroom, but washing them with soap at least two more times throughout the day can help you avoid catching the flu.

Remember that all brands are not the same. Some are harsher on your hands than others. Pick a soap you know won’t irritate your hands. Now, it’s time to wash!

Make sure your hands are wet with warm water before you use the soap. Rub your hands together and make sure you clean every part of them; from between your fingers to the backs of your hands. Do this for fifteen seconds, and it will get rid of your hand’s germs. While still using warm water, rinse your hands clean of soap and dry them thoroughly.

If you don’t have soap handy but you feel like you need to clean your hands, hand sanitizer is something that many doctors recommend. Keep in mind that hand sanitizer is a last resort to washing your hands. If you have soap and water on hand, use them!
