Giving Tech Gifts This Holiday Season: The Many E Reader Choices Available

E-books have definitely taken the world by storm.  They have gone from something used by Internet marketers to something that almost everyone is familiar with.  In fact, e-book sales recently topped those of hardback books.  This means that if you need to give a gift to a tech-savvy person, an e-reader might just be the perfect solution.

Choosing the right e-reader as a gift is important, though – there are three main contenders out there: the Kindle, the Nook and the Nook Color.  The iPad might also make a great gift, but this device is far more than a mere e-reader and is essentially a tablet computer, which might make it too complicated for older generations or very young readers.

The Kindle is the oldest e-reader on the market and makes a great gift.  Here, you will find a six-inch E-Ink screen, as well as four gigs of memory.  In contrast, if you were to give the Nook as a gift, there are only two gigs of memory (but that can be expanded with a memory card far past what the Kindle can do).  It is simple to use and lightweight enough to slip into a handbag or purse.

The Nook Color is new on the market, and is set to be one of the hottest gift items this year.  Here, you will find a full color screen with seven inches of real estate.  You will also find that this gift offers eight gigs of memory, with the ability to expand that.  There are also Android apps being developed for the Nook Color – something other e-readers cannot really boast.

In terms of price, the Nook Color is the most expensive, but it also has the most features and the most promise as a gift that will be treasured.
