How Do You Sync a Wii Remote Control With the Unit?

The advances made to modern video games in recent are startling to an old-school gamer.  Only a few short years ago, a system like the Wii would have been barely imaginable.  Today, kids take gaming without being tethered to the console for granted.

However, for all the fun and enjoyment of the Wii, there can be some problems.  One common issue that most people face is figuring out how to sync the controller with the system.

Actually, syncing a Wii controller is not difficult at all.  To do this, you must first remove the back of the controller, where the battery is.  There, you will see a small, red button.  This needs to be pressed and held for a second.  However, you need to press that button at the same time you press the sync button on the Will console.  You’ll find this on the front of the Wii, under the small flip cover.

Press and hold the button on the Wii while simultaneously pressing the button on the controller.  The lights on the controller should light up and flash.  Once they stop, the remote control should be synced to the Wii and should work normally.

If it does not, repeat the steps above, but hold both the sync buttons for a bit longer.  It really only requires a few seconds.

If you have more than one Wii in your home and you transfer remotes from one console to another, you will have to sync the remote to the console each time – you can only sync a remote to one Wii at a time.
