How to Save Time on Your Thanksgiving Shopping

Does the thought of Thanksgiving shopping make you feel exhausted?  There’s nothing wrong with this – the same thing happens to almost everyone as they contemplate braving the crowds for their turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce.  However, it doesn’t need to be a horrible chore.  A few tips will help you get your Thanksgiving shopping done without the hassles and headaches of previous years.

The first tip is to start shopping early.  Start buying your nonperishable items well in advance of Thanksgiving and keep them in a designated area of your refrigerator.  This will save you time and hassle when shopping as the holiday gets closer.  Generally, starting a couple of weeks ahead of time will give you the same selection of items, but without the incredible crowds.  In addition, you can save a bit of money when you start your shopping early as more less scrupulous stores tend to hike up their prices of ‘seasonal’ items as Thanksgiving week approaches.

Next up, make sure that you cut coupons.  While cutting coupons out the paper is not particularly fun, it can help you save a ton of money on your Thanksgiving shopping.  Even if you can only save a few dozen cents per item, that can still add up to quite a bit of cash when you’re done shopping for the holiday.

In addition, you need to make sure that you make a list for your grocery shopping needs.  Jot down every item that you will need on a master list, and then mark items off as you buy them.  Share them with you partner if they are helping out with the big Thanksgiving shop.  This will help make sure that you have everything that you need, and help you avoid buying duplicate items.
