Review: is the Nike Training iPhone App Any Good?

If you like to track and be consistent with your daily workouts, but can’t afford to go to the gym or get a personal trainer, then the Nike Training app for iPhone can be a lifesaver.  You can access the app anywhere in the world, meaning you can do your workout from your house or hotel room without any hassles…. and the workouts are intense.

The Skinny on the Nike App

When you first open the application, you have 4 different categories to choose from: Get Lean, Get Toned, Get Strong and Get Focused.

Get Lean gives you plenty of cardio to help you slim down.  Within this section you have 3 sections you can choose from: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.  These are broken down according to the number of workouts you do: Beginner (4-5/month), Intermediate (2-3/week) and Advanced (3-5+/week).

Under the Beginner section, there are 5 different workout routines you can do.  For Intermediate you can access 6 different workout routines, and for Advanced you have 6 as well.  All the workout routines are between 30-45 minutes in length.  Get Lean will have you doing high knee runs, walking lunges and plank walks to get your heart rate pumping!

Get Toned will use light weights and intervals in order to give you definition.  In this category you also have Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.  Just like the previous Get Lean category, the workouts range between 30-45 minutes and all three sections: Beginner, Intermediate and Advance have 6 workouts each.  Get Intermediate will make you sweat with SumoSquat with a press, single leg lift with a dumbbell row and Russian twists.

Get Strong will use more weight and fewer reps to get you ripped!  Each section has 6 workout routines and you will have to push yourself.  Some of the moves you can find are: shoulder press, wood chops and push ups on medicine ball.  So get ready to see results!

Get Focused – you will do 15 minute workouts that focus on a specific area.  This category offers 7, 15 minute workouts.  The areas they are targeting are: abs, butt, shoulders, back, legs, cardio burst and arms.  By combining these targeted workouts with a regular 30 minute routine of your choice you will maximize your workout!
