Should You Give the Gift of a Wine Class?

Do you have a wine connoisseur on your gift list this year?  If so, then buying a wine class might just be the best option for them.  Wine classes give your recipient the chance to enjoy some of the finest vintages in the world, learn more about how wine is made, and the characteristics of different wines.

You can give the gift of a wine class to almost anyone (so long as they are of age, of course).  However, not all classes are created equal.  Finding the best gift will take time and research on your part.  One place to begin looking for this type of gift is in your local newspaper, as well as through specialty publications, such as "Wine Spectator Magazine," "Food and Wine Magazine" or "Wine Enthusiast Magazine."

You can also search local wine schools in your area – many urban areas have wine schools, such as the Wine School of Philadelphia, or the New York City Wine Class.  From these places, you can buy a single class, or an entire set of classes to give as a gift to the wine lover in your life.

Of course, you should make sure that the gift class you choose focuses on the type of wine that your recipient most enjoys.  For example, giving someone a wine class that focuses on white wines will not be a good idea if that person really prefers red.  Make sure you know their preference before you make the final purchase.
