The Pros and Cons of Renting a Dress For a Special Occasion

For years now, men have been able to rent a tuxedo for parties and events.  Today, women can do the same!  First, you might want to rent a dress for any number of reasons.  For instance, if you have to go to a party, but simply have nothing to wear and don’t want to shell out the cash to buy a fancy cocktail party dress, then the choice to rent one can be excellent.  Here are some of the things to consider when renting a dress.

Your first step in renting should be to find a retailer in your area.  There are more dress rental stores than you might think, so chances are good that you’ll find one available to you.  You can also rent one through an online retailer.  If you have a good idea of the color and style you’d like, then renting online can be the most convenient (and sometimes the cheapest) option.

However, renting a dress online can be difficult.  You will need to have your exact measurements before you rent one, or you might just find that the gown doesn’t fit the way that you want it to.  You will also have to rent it early, as it can take some time for your shipment to arrive.  This is an important consideration, so if you know you have a big wedding or party coming up, it is wise to rent the dress at least 3-4 weeks ahead of time, to allow for alterations and returns.

Overall, it’s often best to rent through a local retailer, as you can be measured onsite, and get your dress in just a few days.
