When you are trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle for your body, mind and soul, you need to find an activity you enjoy and that you’ll be motivated to keep up. A great example is yoga walking. It is easy to do, you need minimal equipment, and you will be able to do it with your friends or on your own.
You will want to start yoga walking for at least 30 minutes a day during the week, and an hour on the weekends. It might take you some time to get into this healthy routine, but you can work up to it slowly. If you aren’t able to do the yoga walking for 30 minutes when you first start, you can cut the times in half and add to them gradually.
The key to yoga walking is visualization and self-reflection. Remain focused on eliminating any negative thoughts or feelings from your life as you walk. Make sure you clear your head before you begin, by telling yourself that you will focus purely on the sights, sounds and smells of what is around you – the trees, the flowers, the streets. You will have to make an active effort to keep negative thoughts out of your head, but as you practice you’ll get better and better at it.
Begin the walk by moving quickly and power walking and then slow your pace. During the first few minutes of the power walk, you will want to deposit all of your negative energy into the ground with each step. Gradually focus on the better things in life and how great and healthy you feel as you walk.
When you couple yoga walking with eating healthy, you will find that you feel much better physically and emotionally. A healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean three hours in the gym and eating only sprouts. Instead, it means a peaceful and healthy existence for your body and soul, and a rejuvenation of your overall life.
