Effective Methods of Beating Cabin Fever During Winter Weather

While the winter can be an enjoyable season if you love snow and skiing, it can also lead to cabin fever.  If you find that you are stuck inside this winter, you will want to make sure that you have plenty to keep you busy so that you and your family don’t succumb to the common malady of cabin fever.  You will find that there are many things that you can do to stop you from going crazy.

Reading a good book is always a way to transport yourself to another place.  Choose a few good books from your local library or download some to your e-reader.  Even when the snow is piled high this winter, you can escape to the streets of Victorian London with Sherlock Holmes or go to Hogwarts with Harry Potter.

To make sure that you don’t have to drive out to the video rental store during a winter storm, consider downloading or streaming new movie rentals through your television.  Try sites like Hulu.com, or Netflix.com.  You can even download full-length movies from iTunes for a small fee.

Exercise throughout the winter to make sure that you are able to keep in shape.  Even if you are just doing pushups and crunches in the living room, it’s better than no exercise at all.  When you exercise, you will find that your attitude improves even in the winter.  Any form of exercise causes your body to release endorphins, which makes you feel good.  If you are able to get outside at all, go for a short walk.  The fresh air and sunshine will do you some good.

If you have been trying to find a new hobby, the winter can be a perfect time to start, as long as you have all of the supplies you need.  It can be a great time to take up painting or writing, or even begin scrapbooking.  Or learn to brew your own mulled wine – no matter what the weather is doing outside, there’s nothing more cozy than curling up in front of a crackling log fire with your partner and a glass of hot spiced wine!
