Exercise Options for Busy Moms That Means YOU!

For busy moms, getting the right amount of exercise can be difficult.  You probably can’t afford to join the gym right now, but with a little bit of time management, it’s easy to have a great workout and boost your energy level.

One of the best exercise tips for busy moms is to actually take the time to play with your kids.  Join in the game of tag, buy a squirt gun for yourself or start a game of hide and seek – you’ll be surprised at how much exercise you get just trying to keep up with your little ones!

Another option is to plan a quick, 30 minute workout that can be fit into your daily schedule.  This can be an ideal option while the kids are eating breakfast, after dropping them off at school or after the kids are put to bed.

You can also combine play dates and exercise sessions such as yoga with other moms.  This is a particularly good option to do at an outdoor park during nice weather, but you can also exercise at each other’s homes throughout the winter months or when the weather is not as nice.

For an extra step (no pun intended), buy a pedometer to count your daily steps, which in turn will encourage you to walk more around the house, and to take more walks at night with your family.  You’ll be surprised how addicted you’ll get to checking how many steps you’ve so far taken each day, and trying to beat your ‘high score!’

Finally, busy moms should plan their exercise – schedule it on the calendar if you have to.  Don’t just wait until you “have time,” as you never will.  Set aside time for workouts throughout the week or on the weekend.  Even a few extra hours each month will help you burn calories and stay in better shape.

Try to include your family in your workouts as much as possible, and don’t feel guilty for taking care of your health and having alone time from your busy schedule.  After all, if you can’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to help out anyone else.
