How to Start a Stroller Fitness Class for Moms

To make money teaching a stroller fitness class, you first have to make a plan.  Mothers pushing strollers are everywhere – you just need to rally them into a class or group, so you can show them how to get fit, even when pushing a stroller.

To begin, you’ll need to actually compose a business plan that gives you an idea of how much money you can expect to make as a result of the class.  You’ll have to include the costs of hosting the class, as well as your time.  You might be able to save some money by hosting it at a community center or at someone’s home, but most classes are given in venues that do require you to pay for the space.

The money you’ll have to spend will include some basic supplies.  Make sure that you have a way to play music: a small MP3 player and some appropriately-sized speakers will cost between $50-$200 if you shop around.  You’ll also need soft mats and, depending on how much you want to offer your students, you might want to include healthy refreshments, such as bottled water.

You have to offer an incentive to get your first set of students, and offering a free trial class is a great way to do it.  This lets moms get an idea of what they can expect for their money and, provided that you offer a good class, you should be able to get income flowing relatively quickly as they come back again and again, and with any luck bring their friends.

Don’t get frustrated if you’re not making a lot of money at first.  It takes time to build up clientele and you may have to spend money on advertising for a bit before you see a lot of money coming in.  Visit Vistaprint.com to get some free business cards (the free ones will have the company logo on the back), or print your own.

Provided you put forth the effort, you should find that a stroller fitness class is not a hard sell.
