How to Stop Water Retention and Ease Bloating

Water weight can be one of the biggest obstacles in the path of people who are trying to achieve weight loss.  We all want to reach healthy weight levels, but finding the most effective way to do this can be hard.  Let’s look at what you can do to help facilitate weight loss and reduce water retention.

Cut Out the Salt

If water retention is your biggest hindrance to weight loss, consider cutting the amount of sodium in your diet.  Paying attention to sodium levels is essential whenever you are looking to reduce water weight, and you will find that cutting out excess salt can be highly effective.  Consider lowering sugar as well, as it can help drop insulin levels, also helping your body get rid of sodium.

Drink More Water – Not Less

One of the biggest reasons for water retention is dehydration.  Believe it or not, drinking more water can be key to better weight loss and a reduction in water weight.  If your body is dehydrated, it is going to store as much water as possible to keep itself going, and adding a few extra glasses can actually get you back on track.  Taking diuretics will not help and will only make you more dehydrated and tired.

Diet and Exercise

Improving diet and exercise habits, while ensuring that you are fully hydrated, can go a long way.  Always intake enough potassium and protein, and work to cut out excess salt and sugar.  This, combined with proper hydration, can help you reduce retention while improving overall weight loss.
